Infrastructure for Precision: Moving into our Custom-Built Fabrication Studio

The transition from a bare industrial shell to a finished fabrication studio is complete. For Salty Buoy Marine Canvas, this move isn’t just about more square footage—it is about creating a controlled environment where an engineering approach meets digital innovation.

Transitions for Digital Integration

The layout of the new studio was intentionally architected to support our full transition to a digital-first workflow.

  • The CNC Plotter Foundation: Every square foot of the main floor was planned to accommodate the upcoming addition of a large-format CNC textile plotter. By integrating digital templating with automated layout, we are ensuring a level of repeatable accuracy that traditional "hand-tracing" simply cannot match.

  • Mobile Modularity: Our custom-built work tables are the heart of the shop. Designed with leveling casters and integrated underside storage, these stations allow us to reconfigure.

Built for the "Long-Haul" Project

High-stakes refits and award-winning projects often require intense, focused production cycles. To support this, we designed the studio for more than just work; we designed it for sustainability.

  • We’ve integrated a full kitchen into the studio, allowing our team to remain on-site and focused during critical fabrication windows. In an industry where "long days" are the standard, this amenity ensures we maintain a high level of craftsmanship from the first stitch of the morning to the final inspection at night.

  • As highlighted in our construction updates, elevating our mechanical systems—including the transformer and hot water heaters—into the ceiling structure has left us with an unobstructed, clean-room environment with climate control for bonding fabric to semi-rigid clear acrylics for luxury premium enclosures.

Setting a New Standard in Vancouver

This new space allows us to bridge the gap between a traditional craft and modern technical design. For our clients and brokerage partners, this workshop is a promise of quality—a place where digital precision and custom fabrication converge to protect and elevate their vessels.
